Your Questions, Answered

What is Pediatric Physical Therapy?

Pediatric Physical Therapists (PTs) help children learn to function independently and promote active participation in home, school, and community environments. Physical therapists have expertise in movement, motor development, and body function (e.g., strength and endurance). They apply clinical reasoning during examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and intervention for infants, children, and young adults. As primary healthcare providers, PTs promote health and wellness as they implement a wide variety of support in collaboration with families, communities, and other medical and rehabilitation specialists.

What is the difference between a Wellness Visit and Physical Therapy visit?

Wellness visits are similar to well-baby visits. They are typically held once a month to assess an infant’s progress in meeting developmental milestones and to add activities and exercises to ensure they remain on track. Wellness visits can be used to learn play activities with your newborn, tummy time tricks, and positioning and exercises for helmet prevention.  Physical Therapy visits are more frequent than Wellness visits. Physical Therapy visits address specific medical concerns and conditions that require evaluation, assessment, and a plan of care.

Can I gift a Wellness Class or Baby Course?

Yes, our Wellness Classes and Baby Courses can be purchased by everyone and gifted to anyone they’d like! Please contact us for more information.

Does my child need Physical Therapy?

If you have concerns about your child's development, gross motor skills, motor milestones, strength, balance, coordination, motor planning, endurance, or gait pattern, please contact us for a physical therapy evaluation. We will perform an assessment to address your concerns and recommend a treatment plan, if needed.

Do I need a referral for Physical Therapy?

No, not immediately. Families in the State of Texas have direct access to physical therapy, so physical therapists are able to evaluate and treat patients without a pediatrician’s referral for 15 days. However, after 15 days, we will need a referral to continue with treatment.

What form of Payment do you accept?

We accept cash, credit cards, FSA/HSA, and Venmo.
